An Evening with Tim Vine7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

The king of the one-liner and star of BBC1 ‘Live at The Apollo’ and ‘Not Going Out’ Tim Vine has sold out five UK tours and six Edinburgh Festival runs and now he is bring his side splitting comedy to Oasis UK for a show not to be missed!
He is the former record holder for the most jokes told in an hour and received the accolade of ‘best joke of the festival’ from Dave TV in Edinburgh 2010. When you see Tim Vine perform you certainly get value for money. He is a joke machine gun, rattling out one punch-line
after another in quick succession. At full pelt Tim sprays out 10 jokes a minute. Keep the laughs short, he’s got a lot to get through.

“No one else will give you as many gags for your money. Vine is superb, as clever as anything being done today”. The Guardian“Vine is a supreme punmeister” Time Out
“He delivers the funny goods time and again” The Mirror

City Temple John’s Gospel 17:00 pm – 9:00 pm
A one-man performance of John’s Gospel
An abridged version lasting 2 hours; accessible to the unchurched.
Simon comments:
“People often forget that before the Gospels became Holy Scripture they were first stories; stories that were told, about real people, using common people’s language.
Our difficulties in handling the God-human obscure what is startlingly obvious if you take the text at face value. Here was a man of extraordinary compassion and exceptional leadership skills, who for his first thirty years was so normal that John the Baptist didn’t believe that Jesus was ‘the one’ until his baptism.
Artists in former centuries have had to invent ways of depicting the holiness of Christ; by the use of a halo around his head, or by making his skin glow. The only glow on the surface of my skin will be my sweat, as I scatter coins and overturn tables.
Without any compromise to the heart of John’s Gospel, I intend to take the (mis)conception of Jesus as the blond-haired blue-eyed android and blow it to smithereens.”

In an Afghanistan on the verge of war, a childhood friendship is about to be torn apart forever by a fearful act of betrayal. 20 years later, we follow one man’s journey home as he takes one last daring chance to set things right.
Followed by Stories from Afghanistan: Myriam Harley (Hagar UK) shares personal experiences from the troubled nation of Afghanistan. Hagar is an international Christian organisation dedicated to the recovery of women and children who have survived extreme human rights abuses – in particular human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Finding Your Place Of Service In The Church9:00 am – 5:00 pm
This will be an enlightening, challenging but very positive day as we discover what the four main passages in the Bible teach about spiritual gifts. You’ll find out how individual believers fit in Christ’s body, the Church and will learn some basic inductive Bible study skills too. We’ll be focussing on the foundational elements of spiritual gifts, not doing an exhaustive study on the subject. You’ll be able to evaluate what spiritual gift(s) you might have and how to use them to serve the Church.
Comments from people who attended a similar day:
‘I now know that God gives gifts to all His people. All can be used by God. No-one is too insignificant.’
‘Excellent. Bible based. Thought provoking. A catalyst to further seeking and study.’

FAST GIRLS: A Special Preview Screening of the 2012 British Film of the Year!
Starring Lenora Crichlow (Being Human), Lily James (Clash of the Titans 2), Noel Clarke (Kidulthood) and Bradley James (Merlin), FAST GIRLS is an exciting new British feature film set to take the film world by storm this summer. The official opening in UK cinemas is June 2012, but you can see it first at this special Pentecost Festival preview screening from the I Will Tell International Film Festival.
Co-scripted by Noel Clarke (Adulthood, Kidulthood), FAST GIRLS tells the stories of four very different young women. Sassy and streetwise Shania, ambitious middle class Lily, the relentless Trix and Belle who is fast, really fast, in more ways than one. The collision of the four worlds and the intense rivalry between Shania and Lily make things a little explosive to say the least but they are united by their dream to represent Great Britain and win gold for their country, or are they?
“ This is, without a doubt the British film of the year”
“ There’s only one word for it – Boom!”Stay for the post-screening discussion! Joining us on the panel will be the FAST GIRLS filmmakers as well as home-grown 2012 Games hopeful, Martine Wright.
I Will Tell is an International Film Festival specialising in showcasing independent films from around the world that tell stories that would otherwise not be told. Maze Illusionist Evening – Only UK date on European Tour7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Jim Monroe‘s The Maze is a mystery performance piece that has travelled the world, has bewildered audiences for the past decade with its unique and innovative approach to entertainment. Their most famous “illusion” in the early years was staging their own deaths at the University of Southern California on a botched bullet catch. The MAZE now includes magicians Zak Mirzadeh and Daniel Cullen, as well as “PEACHES” the bear.
A MAZE evening stage show escapes the boundaries of any single definition. MAZE presents a unique blend of psychology, illusion, intuition, humour, mystery, and danger. Whether the team of mystery artists are catching bullets in their teeth, pulling a swallowed string out of their abdomens, or predicting a spectator’s random choice of a number from a phonebook, they leave every attendee pondering the question, “How can we know what is really true?”
The MAZE performance engages the mind on multiple levels, ultimately pushing audiences to consider what is really true.

Educators are Christians who want to make a difference in their communities, enabling children and young people to make drug and alcohol-free choices. Parents and other adults with responsibility for children have an important role to play in preventing drug and alcohol-related harm, and that is why we also work with them, providing training and awareness sessions to the voluntary sector.

Craftivist Collective Workshop2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

A spoonful of CRAFT helps the ACTIVISM go down: Using your faith, your gifts, interests and your voice to speak out about big issues – with Christian Aid and the Craftivist Collective.
Ever wondered how campaigning about issues you care about links into your faith? Perhaps you want to speak out about injustice but ‘campaigning’ has always seemed a bit of a scary prospect. Or maybe you’re just really creative and looking for a way to use it to do some good in the world.
If you want to make people sit up and think about global poverty and human rights injustices in a fun, creative and thought-provoking way then this is the workshop for you.
Sarah Corbett from the CraftivistCollective will talk to us about how she started doing craftivism, the benefits of craftivism and how her craftivism is motivated by her faith. Then she’ll teach us how to make a positive difference in the world one stitch at a time and give us all a free handmade kit to work on! Come along and join the discussion, have a cup of tea, a piece of cake and stitch your very own mini-protest banner.

The Justice & Worship Workshop2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
“I’ve had all I can take of your noisy ego-music. When was the last time you sang to me? Do you know what I want? I want justice – oceans of it. I want fairness – rivers of it. That’s what I want.” Amos 5:23-24
Amos’ words are shocking. But, in a world of breathtaking poverty, they are resonating with worship and prayer leaders who are looking for new ways to connect the church with God’s desire for justice.
Join Andy Freeman (24/7 Prayer), Liz Baddaley (The Sanctuary) andDavid Muir(Christian Aid) for this interactive workshop exploring practical themes of worship, prayer and justice.
Andy’s session is called Living out our Worship in which he’ll discuss how we can embody the songs we sing and the words we pray.
Liz will lead a session on Worshipping and Praying with and for the Nations to explore creative practical ideas to help churches on a journey to the place where world and worship meet.
The workshop is open to all involved in leading worship – both musicians and non-musicians.
Parking: There is no parking at the venue
BOOKING INFORMATION: To register, email your name, phone number, church attended and short description of your role in worship to LSE@christian-aid.org. We will reply with an email confirming your booking.

Andy Flannagan – Drowning in the Shallow – Album Launch gig7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
Andy Flannagan is back with a pain-filled yet beautiful new album, produced by Grammy award winner Alan Branch. It is full of stories of broken things and people longing to be made whole, told in Andy’s trademark organic, melodic style. With incredible guest musicians dropping in, this launch night promises to be one not to miss.
Andy’s new album is an invitation to take some steps out into the deep water, away from the relative safety and comfort of our flat-screen worlds. These are beautiful yet painful stories of broken things being made whole and they provoke us to be involved in that process. Here there are tears, wisdom and experience gleaned from some of the world’s most difficult places.
The album features Andy’s trademark organic sound and finely crafted poetic lyrics taken to another level by Grammy-award winning producer Alan Branch (Jeff Beck, Cat Stevens, Sinead O’Connor). There is a genuine feast of musicality with warm strings from Abbey Road, and virtuoso performances from Dave Cooke (guitars, ukulele), Matt Hay (mandolin, ood, violin), Yves Fernandez (bass) and Lucy Payne (cello).
But the best way to experience these songs is to hear them live, which brings the obvious advantage of hearing the stories and seeing the places from whence they came. People rarely leave an Andy gig unchanged, so be prepared to feel comforted and uncomfortable all at the same time.
In an age where music has been reduced to mere entertainment, here is a man who is honestly out to communicate. You will not be disappointed. His experience in campaigning and his work in politics have deepened his understanding of the obstacles to change and how we might shift them. He is convinced that the lobbying of the 21st century will be lobbying of heart as much as lobbying of mind. Music can say a thousand things that words can’t. Let your mind and heart be stirred.
